Canada's House of Commons elects first Black speaker

OTTAWA, Ontario -- Canada’s House of Commons on Tuesday elected Greg Fergus as its new speaker, making the Liberal lawmaker the first Black Canadian to hold the position.

The election was triggered by the resignation of Anthony Rota, who stepped down last week after he invited — and honored — a man who fought for a Nazi military unit during World War II.

Just after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke before the Canadian parliament last month, Canadian lawmakers gave 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka a standing ovation when Rota drew attention to him. Rota introduced Hunka as a war hero who fought for the First Ukrainian Division.

Observers later began to publicize the fact that the First Ukrainian Division also was known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis. Rota later apologized saying he had not been aware of that. Fergus, 54, is a Quebec Liberal lawmaker.

Canada is indeed the model of the morals America gave up. This all is the latest, best example.

India did the murder, not Canada…Canada only exposed the crime for the world to see…when will America on the Saudi murder of an American?

And Saudi did the murder, not the U.S.

But you have a subset of RW loons in both countries who want to burn it all down. The fact that their Speaker of the House was just replaced for what? Essentially (underhandedly) praising nazis.

Canada wants private talks with India to resolve diplomatic spat

Reuters
October 3, 2023 12:51 PM EDT Updated 20 hours ago

Oct 3 (Reuters) - Canada wants private talks with India to resolve a diplomatic dispute over the murder of a Sikh separatist leader, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said on Tuesday, after a report said India had asked the country to withdraw 41 diplomats.

India has told Canada that it must repatriate the diplomats by Oct. 10, according to the Financial Times. Neither Joly nor Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded when asked if the report was accurate.

"We are in contact with the government of India. We take Canadian diplomats' safety very seriously and we will continue to engage privately because we think diplomatic conversations are best when they remain private," Joly told reporters.

Ties between the two countries have become seriously strained over Canadian suspicion that Indian government agents were linked to the June murder in Canada of a Sikh separatist leader and Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who India had labeled a "terrorist". India has dismissed the allegation as absurd.

The entirety of N.A. has too much invested in India as a source of a number of goods and services and watch what Canada will "bury".

enslaved my ancestors, kept my grandfather in a segregated WWI unit and kept him out of UPenn's Med School because they had their 2-n*****r" quota", forced my father into a segregated WWII unit, and wouldn't let my mother teach in the high schools here in Philadelphia because. Race.

So there is no "avoidance" of the fucking egregious acts committed by this country. But your anti-American, pro-Russia/China/everywhere else rhetoric is becoming tiresome.
