RNC Backs Out Of Hosting Debates After Trump Refuses To Participate

After hosting four events in which their front-runner, former President Donald Trump, refused to participate, the Republican National Committee on Friday threw in the towel and announced it wouldnt host any more 2024 primary debates.
The decision doesnt preclude other organizations, like news networks, from hosting their own independent debates ― but they wont have the Republican Partys blessing.
We have held four successful debates across the country with the most conservative partners in the history of a Republican primary. We have no RNC debates scheduled in January and any debates currently scheduled are not affiliated with the RNC, the RNCs Committee on Presidential Debates said in a statement to Politico.
It is now time for Republican primary voters to decide who will be our next President and candidates are free to use any forum or format to communicate to voters as they see fit, the committee said.

(5,456 posts)what he hoped would develop, The Constitutional Republican Party... to differentiate it from the magas. Thought that actually sounded pretty good. But R's place fast and loose while naming things - often going Orwell's direction where the name/label is actually the opposite of the definition. (Peace=War, e.g.)

(298 posts)Our Trump,
Who art in Florida,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy dictatorship (for one day) come,
Thy will be done,
To all those whom we hate because we hate ourselves.
Give us this day our daily hatred,
And our two minutes of hatred,
As we shoot our rifles and abuse our children.
And lead us not into intelligence,
But deliver us from compassion.

(3,783 posts)They have had a few clowns on a stage yelling at each other, cowering away from the buffoon, afraid to say anything against him, trying to imitate him, the only one has been Chris Christy, who is not worth to be a president anyway, but good to hear the truth from a republican, a rare thing.

(28,835 posts)Unless he chokes to death on a cheeseburger or suffers another similar fate, he'll be the nominee, and the debates are a bit of a sham without the monster they have created.
They might be able to stop him if the anti-Trumps coalesced behind one candidate, threw huge amounts of money into it, and hammered Trump incessantly, but a) it's probably too late for that, and b) they're terrified of pissing off his base.
