Voter suppression and intimidation reported in Colorado recall election
Source: PFAW
One factor that may have contributed to the narrow victories for the NRA and its allies Morse lost by just 343 votes was voter suppression. Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz summarized the tactics that helped to suppress turnout:
Colorado voters are used to casting their ballots by mail, but because of lawsuits filed by opponents of common sense gun reform, voters were not mailed their ballots in this election. Those who intended to vote in person did not learn their polling locations until less than two weeks before Election Day. Tuesdays low turnout was a result of efforts by the NRA, the Koch brothers and other right wing groups who know that when more people vote, Democrats win.
In addition, a canvasser for Giron reported "extreme voter intimidation":
We had to call the police on a van of four huge guys staking out our staging location. Volunteers are being followed, threatened, having their pictures taken and yelled at. Were now being told that its bad enough to call 911 immediately.

(113,995 posts)On the other side, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a vocal advocate for stricter gun laws, donated $350,000 to the two Democrats. The Denver Post reported Monday that those supporting the lawmakers have collected nearly $3 million, while proponents of the recall have raised about $540,000.
and yet, the nra and the koch brothers did not have to declare how much money they put in? seriously, we are to believe those figures?

(1,408 posts)The rethugs and teabaggers have been pissing and moaning about the left and liberal so-called voter/voting suppression and intimidation since President Obama took office.
You know, because groups like ACORN have been so active in challenging people at the polls.
Meanwhile the Good, Christian, Patriotic American Right, have been passing more restrictive voting laws and getting caught in illegal voting activities.
The bastards have no idea what a real "American Patriot" is, or what the Constitution really is, or says, and stands for.
Except for what Fox News, OxyRush or any of their other "leaders" tell them what they stand for, and what to think.
The next few elections are going to be interesting.
