India tests nuclear-capable missile

Source: Aljazeera

Agni-V missile, with range of 5,000km, can reach Beijing and much of Europe.

India has successfully test-fired for a second time a nuclear-capable missile that can reach Beijing and much of Europe, bringing a step closer production of a weapon designed to strengthen its nuclear deterrent.

“The test was successful,” Ravi Kumar Gupta, spokesman for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), said on Sunday.

“It hit the target in a predefined trajectory. It met all the mission objectives.”

And some say it will end when India and Pakistan trade nuke strikes.

One thing is certain: We won't have to worry about China vetoing sanctions against India in the Security Council.

India is a peaceful democracy. Can anyone actually imagine India launching a nuke at Europe or China? Let's be serious.

Pretending there is no difference between India and North Korea is riduculous.

but, what about the India-Pakistan ever simmering tension? The first use of nuclear weapons in our era will, I bet, be between India and Pakistan.

China would be drawn in. If, on the other hand, Pakistan would appear likely to be victorious, Russia might well come to India's aid.

Once upon a time USSR & USA had most of the nukes.
Result was they never fought a nuclear war.

Indians and Pakistani's might be crazy but they are not suicidal. Unless of course the Jihadists take over Pakistan, then all bets are off, including a nuclear dirty bomb exploding in a US city.

difference. They are all people with human flaws. To say one race of people is better, is nothing but racism and the belief in superior races. Furthermore, nuclear weapons have been used only once and they were very crude weapons. Those two bombs alone cause a lot of damage.

North Korea is estimated to have nine to ten by now. The United States and South Korea think they are going to make North Korea give them up. Nobody is going to attack North Korea because they have a nuclear deterrant. They can literally right now wipe South Korea off the map with the ten they have and it is estimated North Korea will have at least 50 in a couple of years. They had nuclear capability for over a decade now and hasn't used them on anyone. I guess your primise is North Korea was mad enough to nuke someone, if they got them. It hasn't happened yet. There is still only one country to have actually used nuclear weapons.

I mean, Western-facing voices who seek to, figuratively, curry favor with the US and Europe claim castes no longer exist. Those who merely scratch the surface know better than to believe the hogswollop.

regarding nuclear weapons.

Its conventional military force is much greater than Pakistan's, which of course makes Pakistan nervous. China seeks to dominate the region militarily, financially and strategically. Pakistan is its puppet more or less, though I think China is probably starting to realize they may not have as much control as they think. Much of Pakistan's military technology comes from China.

Frankly, I don't blame India one bit for maintaining a strong military. If I lived in that neighborhood, I'd want nukes too. I mean, seriously, its surrounded by a bullying and hegemonic China, which has backed its antagonistic neighbor for decades. And that neighbor, Pakistan is basically a failed state.

is palpable. India has NEVER invaded a foreign country. It has never fired Cruise missiles at any country. It has never nuked any country. It is the LARGEST democracy on earth. It has the oldest major religion, Hinduism, on earth. Buddhism originated in India since Buddha was an Indian prince.

I lose no sleep over Indian nukes and missiles. But anyone wishing to attack India have reasons to lose sleep.

than any other country. They are all humans with flaws. They have their lunatics just like the United States and Israel. It is like giving George Zimmerman a gun and me being unarmed. But if the odds were even, Zimmerman would probably run.
