But data compiled by the federal government shows that less than one percent of the guns recovered in New York were initially purchased in Vermont, which borders the Empire State on the northeast.

state govt in consideration of trafficked guns? Bernie has never served in a direct state elected position. He was a Mayor and then a US representative. Any gun regulation he would be a part of would be in regards to passing legislation in the US house or Senate. And those two bodies of elected officials refuse to take on the NRA by passing any meaningful gun regulation.

If you want federal standards, then the federal goct needs to take up this issue. VT doesn't have the same sort of stats other states do in regards to weapons. And it's a state that uses hunting to supplement people's freezers with food or for protection in their rural abode. If a predator type of animal has decided to take up residence on one's land, it's often the owner that would need to take care of the issue...

Many of my friends women and men up there

My father hasn't touched a gun since he left the army, and my husband had a best friend die due to a stupid teenage accidental gun discharge (thank God he wasn't the one who had the gun in his hand), however the rest of the men in my family do hunt. They do supplement their freezers with deer and wild turkey meat. My little niece even has a small now and arrow kit that she uses to shoot at her Dad's deer target. In the future she may decide to hunt with her dad, I assume her younger brother will automatically assume the hunter roll like his father.

Many of my friends women and men do participate in hunting and fishing. There are some who treat it as sport, but many of them are the ones who come in from other states and buy a license... And they are the ones who do not respect people's private property and are willing to poach for their game.
