Putin says Russia wants end to war in Ukraine

Dec 22 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia wants an end to the war in Ukraine and that this would inevitably involve a diplomatic solution.

"Our goal is not to spin the flywheel of military conflict, but, on the contrary, to end this war," Putin said. "We will strive for an end to this, and the sooner the better, of course."

"Quite the contrary," Kirby told reporters during an online briefing. "Everything he (Putin) is doing on the ground and in the air bespeaks a man who wants to continue to visit violence upon the Ukrainian people" and "escalate the war."

Kirby reiterated that Biden was open to talks with Putin, but only after the Russian leader "showed a seriousness about negotiations" and after consultations with Ukraine and U.S. allies.

1. Putin started it for no good reason. He can end it.

2. All he has to do is pack his troops up and send the back to Mother Russia.

I doubt that the Ukrainians will follow him past Crimea. A nation who is talking about a negotiated settlement while they are losing is desperate indeed. Putin really won't like it when it comes to negotiating reparations and the handling of war criminals.

This Winter is liable to completely break the backbone of the will to fight for Soviet troops. Putin's troops may end up being a bigger danger to Putin than Ukraine before the Spring thaws.

Leave Ukraine - all of Ukraine, including Crimea - and stop the bombing.
