Evangelical Climate Scientist Katharine Hayhoe was interviewed, along with her Pastor husband on a popular Christian broadcasting news program. The comment storm is ongoing
CBN News:
WASHINGTON Climate change is one of the most contentious issues of our time. Many conservative Christians dont agree that humans help cause it or that people can affect the Earths warming or cooling.
They might be surprised to find, however, that two of the more respected believers in climate change are evangelical Christians with conservative leanings.

(3,947 posts)The video shows that there is an active discussion among evangelicals on the issue of climate change. Frankly, the surprise in reading the comments on the news page and facebook , is the number of comments supporting the science. Still a lot of the normal trolls etc.

(2,075 posts)but why don't they write a book covering their dialogue, and all the "What about..." objections that the pastor husband to be brought up about climate change, when he came around from being a denier to being a believer and activist? I'm sure that it would help many Christians. If they haven't written such a book already, they should certainly do so.
Another book that I would like to recommend in this line is "Pagans and Christians" by Gus DiZerega. He systematically explains how evangelical Christians cherry pick their way through scripture to deny man's responsibility to be stewards of the earth and of Nature, which IS found in the Bible, if you know where to look. I think you can find it on Amazon.
The last video I watched before this one was the heated rant of that talented young black kid about sea level rise, in which he boils the whole thing down to foolish and shortsighted selfishness and greed. But, if one really tries to distill down the essence of Jesus' teaching in the gospels, and the essence of spiritual teachings in the Bible as a whole, is the basic message one that condones selfishness and greed??? I don't think so!!!
