(111,437 posts)I noticed that the first Bernie crowds were a sea of white faces, along with a lot of other people on DU. I have also noticed that isn't the case now, that the crowds are reflecting the rainbow of whatever place he's visiting.
Continuing to pretend Sanders is only a white people's candidate is wrongheaded. That's the basic mistake BLM seems to be making, along with thinking they're going to gain support by shaking their fingers in anyone's face.

(14,881 posts)I'm sure Bernie is already there, but I still hope he sees this video.
I know I needed to see it, isolated up here in the Great White North, lol. I'll be watching the rest of the videos he's posted as I have time!

(41,199 posts)We must not be divided to benefit malevolent forces, Bernie is reaching and inspiring millions and must stay on message, and the Seattle rally disruptors do not speak for or perhaps even care about the very issues they espouse.
Above all I hope this man's thoughts and words are genuine and if so that his powerful, perceptive statement for truth and unity reach and are heard by Sen. Sanders and the MSM broadly, and Now.
Tremendous, thank you so much!

It is my opinion that Bernie is not an enemy of POC, quite the antithesis.
Unless somebody's trying to purposely make Bernie LOOK like the enemy. People can draw their own conclusions about who might want to make Bernie look like the enemy, and I will draw mine.

(10,418 posts)He's said what I've been thinking for a few days. It's not so much about Bernie but the platform he has created with the large audiences. The people who have hijacked those campaign appearances are trying to speak to the largest number of people they can and get the most exposure in the press that they can. I don't think they are really concerned about Bernie's civil rights credentials.
That being said, Bernie does not have the level of support he needs from the black community to carry him through the general. For whatever reason he's not polling well there. Maybe that will come with more time, if not soon then maybe with a few primary wins. But I think the issue needs to be addressed in his campaign now.

(14,459 posts)But BLM ironically did a good job of highlighting who is for what in this election, and putting Bernie in the spotlight. Hiring Symone Sanders to be the point person for this issue will also really begin to tell soon. She's amazing.

(11,945 posts)He puts it all in perspective. "Don't waste time trying to go after people who DON'T CARE about the issues." Bernie is being targeted because he attracts a large audience. These people don't care about his message, they just want to get "likes" they just want popularity. We will not be divided along racial lines. It is not going to work. Stay on message. Feel the Bern. The work continues.
Hope Bernie will see this. I think it would warm his heart and lift his spirits.
God bless this young man, whoever he is.
And thank you, NorthCarolina.

(41 posts)This man's dialogue frames my feelings exactly. I had become completely jaded and cynical with the political process until Bernie's campaign got going. He has energized me and got me talking about politics again with family, friends, co-workers and anyone else who will listen. I have started talking about Bernie and his message with my children. It's like being reborn, and it galls me to see a small group of radicals trying to undermine him, when he has been fighting for their cause for decades.

(1,333 posts)when he called their witch hunt on Bernie "misdirected anger". I think its either these women need help or they are paid agents. I cannot believe that someone who calls themselves activist can get it so wrong on an issue. Sorry gals, but the divide and conquer is not going to work this time.
To anyone watching this, please understand that these 2-3 women from BLM do not speak for any sizable number of black people. They speak for themselves.
