Birther Madness in Arizona: The Movie!

Arizona Goes Birther Crazy: Secretary Of State Ken Bennett Says It's 'Possible' Obama Won't Be On Ballot! Secretary of State Ken Bennett, the man in charge of running Arizona's elections, has gone to the birthers. Secretary of State Ken Bennett now says he's not convinced Barack Obama was really born in the United States and so he is threatening to keep the president off the ballot in November.

Is it just me, or does Arizona in the last few years seem intent on taking the award for craziest state in the union away from other states like Texas and Florida lately? I mean look at all the craziness.

-Passing radical xenophobic anti-immigrant legislation, creating mass boycotts of the entire state.

-Having some of their state's own law makers encourage boycotting their own state (may have been on principle against the anti immigrant bill, but how would you have reacted 10 years ago if someone told you law makers in Arizona would be encouraging people to boycott their own state and district?).

-Banning Mexican culture studying programs, because you know it promotes resentment towards white people. And hey, this bill totally wasn't passed because of white people's resentment towards Hispanics and Mexico!

-Declaring life begins two weeks before contraception.

Wonder what Arizona thinks it'll win by being declared the craziest state in the union?

The 'overlays' were very informative of your legislation. Privacy seems to still be very important. Officially at least.

Bennett never says he provided the proper certified documents to the officials in Hawaii. He neatly glosses over that in the interview.

If he required this of ALL presidential candidates on the ballot, he might have a teensy weensy leg to stand on. But he hasn't and he won't.

The attorney general's office in Hawaii is telling Arizona's secretary of state that if he wants confirmation of President Barack Obama's birth records, he'll have to prove he legitimately needs it.

Special Assistant Joshua Wisch said late Friday that Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett hasn't done that despite numerous email and phone exchanges between their offices.

Wisch says Hawaii state laws require Bennett to show legal authority that this office needs the records to update its official lists as part of its ordinary work.
