While Americans are distracted by the presidential race, the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is working around the clock to dismantle initiatives, state by state, that could enact pro-consumer legislation. In other words: theyre screwing everything and everyone again. Ring of Fires Farron Cousins discusses this.

(89 posts)Corporate America with its short-term $$$ goals is their drug of choice. It is a high/fix for them that $$$ is the answer to life. These corp. elites need re-conditioning. Their narrow perspective on life as being about $$$ is killing people and the planet.
Inject the corporate elites with re-conditioning. De-programming their messed up mentality. With their plan, no one is helped. NO ONE. NO THING.

(14 posts)Farron Cousins states that fracking is just as dirty as coal. I'm not sure how he's measuring this, but fracking sometimes pollutes ground water, while coal always pollutes ground water via literal up-side down mountain tops ground to pebbles and stuffed into valleys as "tailings" and as heavy metal dispersion after burning. Fracking often causes relatively mild earthquakes, while coal extraction usually destroys everything within many miles of the biggest seams using very large quantities of high explosives. Fracking pushes unknown chemicals miles down into the earth, while coal mining extracts a witches' brew of heavy metals and other carcinogenic and teratogenic compounds which are then burned all over the country so everyone gets a good unhealthy dose, especially of mercury and arsenic. Fracking extracts staggering amounts of methane which is a greenhouse gas that, in effect, is about 28 times more harmful than carbon dioxide, but most of it gets burned, releasing staggering amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere instead (plus whatever goes into fertilizer production), while coal mining and burning produce very little methane but lots of carbon dioxide and particulate ash. Furthermore, it takes a lot more carbon burning machinery and dead miners to extract coal than it does injured (heavy machinery is dangerous), horny men (boom towns without women are common), to frack methane.
They both suck, but fracking is at least two orders of magnitude cleaner than coal, IMHO.
Since none of my thinking comes from an article, if anyone has a source that contradicts, I'd love to read up on it! Thanks.
