Vlad Vexler's take on Putin's 2 hour speech

It sounds like Putin wants to return the country to the Soviet days, during which factories churned out hundreds of tanks, and artillery guns but no logistics equipment and damned few goods for workers. Workers were told by the central government what they needed and never got anything over and above that. Anything else was bootleg, black market, and expensive.

It remains to be seen whether or not any of this will be acceptable.

Konstantin over at "Inside Russia" tried to live vlog the damned thing, even he skipped the first 42 minutes of total boilerplate. He had a hard time following it, said Putin was hopping from subject to subject, never finishing anything, just promising the usual prosperity to Russian workers who are paid poorly and in crumbling Soviet housing with no hope for anything better since he fucked up the economy with his stupid war, which he did not mention.

Ut;s funny that Vexler called this a Brezhnev speech, Brezhnev was famous for talking endlessly about nothing but hazy promises of prosperity for all.
