(39,154 posts)Also "assault rifle" is a well defined term that includes only short, lightweight rifles that shoot short cartridges and are capable of machine-gun firing. Civil versions do not include the machine gun feature and are, therefore, not "assault rifles." Nothing that shoots .22 rimfire is.
I am not suggesting that civilian AR-15s and AK-47s should be off-limits for restrictions. I am only commenting about the terminology.

(6,785 posts)machine gun. The American 180 had a 275 round pancake magazine that it fires at 1200 RPM. You can see them on Youtube.
Not that I'm arguing .22s are inherently dangerous, just that any bullet can be dangerous if you pour enough of them out at a high enough rate of fire.

(6,785 posts)where you said civil versions. So my bad.

(6,785 posts)look scary, but they're .22s.
The second and fourth ones are .223s. The same type of bullet used in the most recent mass murder. Jesus, "most recent" mass murder. Like it should have ever gotten beyond the first one without us doing something about it.
