. Maybe Tanya has a twin who can resurrect the wonderful Jennifer Coolidge in Season 3?

(1,023 posts)She had a feral sense of self preservation, but she was a walking disaster who still blew it in the end. She did go out in a blaze of glory, though.

(46,775 posts)Amazing how she could balance it all, because some actresses just come across as a stereotype of the spoiled rich girl. Tanya was a very complicated character. She could come across as inspired and grateful, as she was in Season 1, until she ripped the heart of her therapist; and then with Portia she went from the evil boss to someone who was genuinely concerned.
I just read a review about her character and I liked this take: She was good at handling the hard stuff, but totally clueless on things that are seemingly small, like spotting the ladder on the yacht that could have saved her life, or taking off her high heel shoes.
I bet Greg doesn't get away with it, but I don't know how you center that story line around another White Lotus, unless he decides to check into one.

(7,540 posts)A lot more insightful into the characters and human nature, as well as more suspenseful. I like Jennifer Coolidge but think she is kind of a one-trick pony. Coolidge is very good at playing that character, as she has been in other things like Best in Show, but two seasons of her was enough for me. Usually I'm not that good at figuring out what's going to happen but I pegged the gay guys as grifters from the start and she as the mark, and that she would die in the end. It was kind of a jaw-dropper the way it happened.
I thought everyone else was perfectly cast and very good, but espescially the two Sicilian hookers. They breathed some real humor and life into the show and I expect we'll be seeing more of both of the actresses.
To me the theme of the show was about not being a sheep in a world full of wolves, even ones as enticing as the two escorts (I like how Albi knew he was being played and was ok with it because ... well ... she was so adorable).

(15,690 posts)Even if Jennifer Coolidge didnt want to return for another season, and wanted her character to be killed off, the way it was done was so lazy, so cynical, the writer and producers should hang their heads in shame.
Coolidge did a great job with her character, its a pity the writers couldnt find a more fitting end than Ooops!.
This season was far weaker than the first, and with few exceptions (Mia and Alby) the characters were almost universally unlikeable and generated little sympathy from me. The tension and conflicts seemed largely manufactured and artificial.
I wont be watching it again.

(8,092 posts)I thought it sucked!
The characters were incredibly unlikeable (except Alby) and I just couldn't root for any of them.
I thought the writing and situations throughout the season were sooooooooooooooo subpar.
BTW, Jennifer Coolidge wanted to be on a third season and was bummed when she found out she'd end up dying. I read an interview with her.
I really didn't like that they barely included the resort's characters this season. The woman hotel manager who had a horribly contrived lesbian subplot was just ridiculous. I really enjoyed the storylines for the hotel employees in season one.
I've lost respect for Mike White.
