First, he plays the same role: detective Benoit Blanc, a southern gentleman.

Here's the hilarious trivia: His accent is different from one movie to the next. The reason he gave for the change is that he worked on improving the southern accent, AND he couldn't remember how to replicate the accent in the first movie.

Like a French accent or something. Then not explaining why it was different.

but those who were invited were known friends, from what I understand. And, of course, he plays the part of a famous detective so he would be known to the guests.
