Ever been to a pearl party? (POSS. TRIGGER WARNING)

My mom, who died in 1974, had two pearl parties. She invited all her friends over. A woman brought in a small aquarium filled with oysters. The friends each got to choose an oyster, and when they had their pearls, the woman sold them settings for their new jewels.

Isn't that odd?

(I've been thinking about my mother a lot. She died 48 years ago. That's hard to believe.)

any, but it was an interesting catalog to read. Maybe it's the same outfit your mom's friend subscribed to.

for a couple dollars. The vendor broke them open and then tried to sell you a setting for your pearl. My oyster had 2 identical pink pearls inside and the sales lady tried extra hard to sell me something. I never had them set and they're still in my jewelry box.

I don't remember anything about them being eaten, but I figure at least one party-goer asked that question.
