It's like the army around here , I didn't know we do not buy yellow cheese in slices.

A ramble now I do not take my time in service that seriously I actually look back and think ok that was three years I wasted in a humorous fond way of remembering . Example my first platoon sgt a fine S.F.C. when I fist hit the 82nd assigned to the 2/325 PIR our platoon sgt had a saying Get with the program Airborne and quit fucking up pay attention to detail trooper.

Yesterday we were shopping Walmart and getting oil changed and our one grandson is with us he is off of pre school sick the doc said upper respiratory. So after Dr appointment we headed to store to get Kleenex and other supplies groceries. So in shopping I grab a big pre sliced block of cheese it was yellow , and mister says what are you doing Pap.

Mister - Why did you get that cheese Pap.

Pap - Because you all like cheese and you wanted cheeseburgers and chicken soup for chow.

Mister - Grandma never got yellow cheese she always got white cheese and My mom never gets yellow cheese.

So young mister went and picked up the white pre sliced , then we hit the Kleenex oh geez.

Mister - No pap my Mom and Grandma always gets the extra lotion Kleenex.

I’m smiling over this because yea old man pay attention to detail get with program if you wanna be in my platoon trooper.

Then on way to pay for oil change we stroll by the toy section and young mister is like can we look at toys Pap. I said I’m not sure we’re just gonna look right cuz Santa is Five days out.

And your Mom and grandma had a rule no new toys this close to Christmas , I could see young mister thinking this one out. We ended up paying for his new light saber at the oil change register my thought is you can always use a spare light saber.

To quote my first platoon sgt once again in carrying gear ( It is better to have and not need than to need and not have people)

Reminds me of my nephew, now in his 40s, when he was about three. He and his mom moved in with me and we lived in a small town about 25 miles from where shopping could be done. We always had to discuss everything with the young man, baby-talk sort of conversation was not tolerated by him, you spoke him as you would an adult or he'd get indignant. Seriously, at three he was using four syllable words. So his mom and I had to tell him about all the stops we had to make. We usually would get about two thirds of them done and by then he was ready for a nap so we would head home and move the stops we missed to the top of the list for the next trip. But once we got stopped in the driveway at home and woke him up he would have a serious reprimand for us for not going to all the stops we had planned, it was actually comical, he kept us in line.

Now I refer to him as the son I never had.

That I put mayonnaise on his toasted cheese sandwich. How dare I do that!

My Son always insisted his McDonalds be onion free. We had to wait forever on his burger.

Fast forward 15 years, he got a job at Mickey Dees flipping burgers while in High school. He was fuming all over because he had to stop, make an onion free burger until he looked over his shoulder to see hhis Dad looking right at him!

The guy who ordered his burger onion free!

So he is working part time at the local hardware/lumber big box. He collects orders. I am thinking about going in and getting someone to send him for a pipe stretcher.

have. You are a fine platoon sgt in the making. Remember if it moves, salute it. If it doesn’t move paint it green!

You sir are way stronger than me.
Kids and dogs are gifts.
Ya know what is great, grandson knew all he had to do was get you into the aisle. It is like taking candy from a pap.
Hey here is one for ya. Pot pies are a good meal.
