The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDish TV customers. A couple weeks ago the local broadcast channel dropped METV.
I was fortunate Dish carried METV on 247, then yesterday I found Dish dropped it also. That was one of my most watched channels.
No more Parry Mason, Twilight Zone, Adam 12, Dragnet, Highway Patrol all the stuff us old guys watch.

(183,008 posts)Our local NBC affiliate has Me TV as one of its 4 channels. Each network affiliate has 3-4 channels. Sometimes its just a running weather loop. Yes. Weve gone back to that, the antenna.

(3,371 posts)I'm not an old guy, but I love the older shows. Though, some of their "old" shows are from my childhood....A-Team. We constantly watch MeTV. I have Xfinity.

I love Saturday morning westerns. I tape Time Tunnel on Saturday nights. I did.
MeTV has the great rotating mix and the viewing quality is high.

It says they're negotiating. Which means jacking MeTV
We just switched to Dish because DirectTV was in negotiations with the local ABC affiliate for several months.
Why can't a provider simply give what is desired and us not have to pay for all the stuff we absolutely won't watch? There's no technological barrier anymore. Dish asks us to customize for their advantage. Why can't we customize for our personal economy?
For those interested what I've seen in exploring:
82 FETV mostly old tv
217 is GRIT, old western tv and movies.
259 INSP lots of old western tv and movies
289 COMET is good for old sci-fi
293 HERIC runs each of the old star trek series for one hour every weeknight and lots of other old tv stuff.
373 GETTV old detective shows like Kojak and Rockford files
Big surprise is 387 FMC which has a bunch of old cowboy movies and every once in a while a truly great film.
TCM is something I watch constantly but it's on a premium package on Dish, $20 more.

(7,677 posts)I had to check and see if it was still on in my area (near Athens, GA). So far, so good.
I like "The Carol Burnett Show' on MeTV, as well as a lot of their sci-fi and Westerns programming on Saturdays. Sometimes, I watch their Sunday block party programming, depending on what they're showing that day. Also, I sometimes watch "The Best of Ed Sullivan" on Sunday nights, depending on what's showing.
A Dish dispute that is currently affecting programming here is with Cox Media, which has taken the Atlanta ABC affiliate off Dish. There's no indication when the resolution to that situation is coming and, as usual, both sides are blaming each other.

(15,756 posts)Just add Pluto to your Roku/FireTV/AppleTV.
Pluto has quite a few oldies channels worth watching.
