Lemonades
Toast Yay
Charmel Chocolate Chip
Raspberry Rally--sounds interesting
Maybe they don't sell your favorite any more. Do you remember what it was? This was from the GS cookie site.

(102,634 posts)with the oatmeal sandwiched around it and find it quite different from anything sold in the grocery store. Many find them too dry, but I think they are great. Thin mints are great too (though less so than I remember), but I have zero self-control with a box of them. The trefoil shortbread cookies are good too. But mostly I buy the peanut butter do si dos.
Oh, and most of the others, I've never tried. I guess I'm an originalist. LOL

(102,634 posts)My area still gets them from Little Brownie Bakers (out of KY) so that the original names and recipes (supposedly) are retained.

(22,300 posts)so we got them from both.
My favorites are the peanut butter patties, shortbreads, and those lovely lemon things. The lemon ones are so good with a cup of tea

(13,460 posts)Chocolate and peanut butter will always be a winning combination for me.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)because they keep getting smaller and smaller. I know they have made the boxes smaller but the cookies keep shrinking too!
And yes, I know I don't need cookies!

(16,402 posts)But having purchased a package of the lemon ones.....OMG! They are bigger than the rest of the GS cookies, too.
Yummers!
Phentex
(16,334 posts)They are bigger than the trefoils! I hope they don't change them next year. Our are called Lemon Ups

butter patties,

(11,226 posts)There are two different factories and there are subtle differences between the cookies and sometimes different names depending which factory. I think one is primarily East of the Mississippi and the other is West.

(1,915 posts)my favourite, and also apparently a big favourite of the Pac NW - one of the distributors told me that we ate most of them (I guess we don't count...well, not enough of us, I guess). They have Savannah Smiles (light lemon cookies) which are good, but frequently are sold out. I don't like any of the others - they've destroyed the shortbread cookies which taste like chemicals when they used to be lovely and rich.

(116,106 posts)The thin mints are waxy. They used to have a kind called Savannahs, and they were my favorite, but of course they don't make them any more.
GenThePerservering
(1,915 posts)cheap chocolate and not very 'minty' and too sweet. It's too bad - I'm a big Girl Scouts booster, too - used to sell the cookies myself and bought them for years, but I no longer purchase them. If they brought back the Lime Coolers, I would.

(207,404 posts)But please don't bring the thin mints anywhere near me. When I was 10 and selling them myself, I woke up in the middle of the night to be sick. My Dad asked me what was wrong and I told him that I was thinking of the thin mints...

(442 posts)...that truly hates GS cookies.
But, I buy them every year to support the kids of coworkers and then I give them away.
Didn't even like them when I was selling them about 50 years ago and we had to drag around boxes door to door.

(1,229 posts)Outside a marijuana dispensary. They really sell! 😂
Theres also an option now to pay for a box the girls will donate to folks in the military.
The troops get to decide what to do with their profits. Ours usually voted for camping or a field trip. One year we went to the local iMax theater for a movie about flying. Oy. The girls were great but I flashed a migraine and almost lost my lunch. The planetarium was another favorite field trip. We also went to Gulf Island National Seashore for a program, then did some water sampling. Citizen science was so good for our girls, and their families.

(1,229 posts)Ive been told they keep well in the freezer, but not so much at my house. They do taste good cold, though.😉
#1 Thin mints
#2 trefoils (shortbread)
#3 Lemon Ups
My daughter Littlebird used to love what she called Peanutbutter Patatties
Husband Happy Hussein loves the Samoas, aka Carmel Delights
My best friend and I started a troop for our daughters, went from Daisies to Juniors with them. We both taught science and love to be outdoors so we took our troop camping every year. Did you know that you can cook bacon and eggs in a paper bag over the campfire? Id rather make smores, but to each her own.
The troop came to my house to see Littlebirds flock of chickens and have a sleepover. I asked them to fill up the wheelbarrow with firewood for the stove and one little camper told me, its just like little house on the prairie! 😂
Thank you for this little trip in the way back machine, debm55!

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
