Sounded like it was right on top of us and might have hit a tree nearby. Glad I don't live in L.A., it's pouring out there right now.

(24,123 posts)when we do get a little rain, it's been just light sprinkles. My farm pond is down four or five feet. Love to have a heavy downpour to put water and oxygen in my pond before it freezes over. I'm afraid I could have a fish kill this winter.

Everything big tends to move east and north of us.
Still, that was a nice downpour; the rain sounded like it was hammering our aluminum awning for about a half hour just around midnight.
Perfect "grab the naggy cats some stinky food and us a couple cups of hot cocoa and watch the rain on come down until the noise level goes down enough to go back to sleep" moment break.
I feel for the night shift workers though. Kidlet was closing at her store and got home basically 15 minutes before it hit.
On edit only an hour later...just after I posted this, kidlet asked what chance of rain she would be facing going to work today. Weather channel showed a chance of rain again around noon to 3pm in San Diego proper. Just a minute ago - an hour later, it shows absolutely no chance of rain except for a little stray drizzle because everything just moved north east of us instead of moving north. North and East county (hills and xburb/rural area) will be soaked, the city will just be slightly chilly and humid. Weather shadow weirdness.
