The residents of the Atlantic Canadian province chased the same good deal online without prior planning.

When the cruise company told some of them that at least 250 Newfoundlander couples were already booked, many brought their flags and traditional attires to celebrate the island's heritage on board.

I was in Ottawa. There was a whole plane load of us Ottawans on I think a Sun Wing airplane. Many of us stayed at the same resort. It is how the trips were marketed to us..... by plane load. We looked at a catalogue at the travel agent's. Pointed to one of a few Margarita Island, Venezuela resorts. Direct flight.
