most sense to me. Well, none of them really do, but that's the one that appeals to me most.

Here's a Twilight Zone episode "Cradle of Darkness" in which a woman, played by Katherine Heigl (she pronounces it Hile) goes back in time to off baby Hitler:

For example, the crew of the ISS is known to age slower than those of us on earth, effectively jumping into the future, but only by a tiny amount. Still, they have to keep resynchronizing the clocks of every piece of equipment we're still using up there.

Since you're on a moving object, and you're not dragging the entire Earth back in time with you, your first attempt at traveling into the past is going to end with floating around in the interplanetary void.
