My right bottom forearm. The largest one kind of turned into a welt as if someone had punched me really hard. Over a few hours, they all merged together. It didn't inhibit movement of my elbow at all. In fact, it only hurt when I pressed hard on it.
My roommate suspects that it has something to do with my body breaking down the bruise and reabsorbing the material. Which I think is correct. But it certainly scared me a bit. I've read too many horror stories about flesh eating infections.
I woke up this morning feeling very sick. Like having the type of flu where nothing is particularly wrong other than the fact that you feel like you're a zombie. This could merely be coincidence. Or maybe getting sick is what triggered the response to the bruise?
Anyway, very strange. I marked some boundaries of the inflammation with a sharpie yesterday. So you can see how it's grown since then. The bruise is to the right and has been gradually turning more yellow and green. The two marks towards the bottom middle are scabs.

(23 posts)My daughter had it and even though she went to the doctor and got antibiotics she ended up in the hospital for 6 days on IV antibiotics for a blood infection.

(7,720 posts)had a blood infection four years ago. After 6 weeks of IV antibiotics they said they got it all with no damage. Two months later he had to have a heart valve replaced.

(7,720 posts)I think you need to see a doctor and get some antibiotics. If it is cellulitis, it's nothing to fool around with. My oldest brother had both of his knees replaced at the same time. He contracted cellulitis while in the hostpital and they put him on IV antibotics right away. I don't think you should even wait another day, get to an ER to get it checked out.

(7,720 posts)I'm sure you need to arrange to get to urgent care, but you really should go now. I don't wish to scare you, but people have lost limbs because of infections.

It could be cellulitis. Mr Pipi had it on his elbow from a teeny little cut. Had to be on antibiotics so strong that if they didn't work he would have had to get the highest (and last level) through IV in the hospital.
Do NOT fool around with this!!

(8,155 posts)Pretty sure I'm going to have arthritis in it before too long. RA runs in the family and I can feel the joints already starting to stiffen up at the age of 23.
