I hope this is not alerted on, it's just a joke---and I don't mean to offend anyone...except geardaddy, haha.

I always urge people who want to get a kitten to get two. And why stop at two kitties? They are irresistible.

Usually everyone wants kittens, and all my older cats have been the best. Not trying to offend you, obviously you are a cat lover, which is awesome!

It just seems that most people go for kittens, and if they get a bonded pair it will make their lives easier. All our kitties are rescues, and the next one we get will be older (maybe all black 'cuz they're harder to find homes for) from a no-kill shelter.

My best friend went to adopt a kitten, and couldn't seperate them, so she brought all 3 home, and she already had 1 older cat she adopted from the humane society. I know I couldn't take just one! I really want another cat (we lost our 19 year old last May to kidney failure) and we adopted her when she was eight. She had a long, wonderful life with us, and I miss her dearly.

We adopted a rescue dog last spring that is kind of a spaz (but so lovable) so I'm a little leary of getting another cat just yet.

Both my cats have been rescue kitties adopted from a no-kill shelter here in the Twin Cities. My first boy, Max, passed at 16-17 in August '10 from kidney failure and I was absolutely distraught. We were roommates for five years and two weeks. After two months of not hearing a welcoming "meow" when I got home I went back and a big ol' boy picked me out within minutes. Butch is a perfectly wonderful cat in his own right.

Everyone wants kittens, but PLEASE give some thought to the wonderful older cats in shelters. They get ignored far too often.

I had to launch a cat from my lap, just to reach the keyboard.

The cat gave me the look that says "I'm on the floor because I want to be here. Oh, look, there's a sunbeam I can lie down in."

I have a family of feral cats who have adopted me recently. They won't allow me to touch them or even come to within 6 feet of them, but they are more than happy to eat the cat food I put out for them and wait on the back porch for me to get home. I don't know what to do about them. I have no way to trap them or to get them to the vet for neutering even if I could trap them, but I just can't let them go hungry. If I called the city to trap them I'm sure they would be euthanized immediately.
