Racing (which is far more than NASCAR) is full of vibrant personalities and real carachters. I suspect the Harlequin romaces don't have a lot to do with reality - which is too bad.

Joyce Standridge
Joyce Standridge has published three books with Coastal 181: Gotta Race! with Ken Schrader, Inside Hermans World with Kenny Wallace, and Win It or Wear ItAll Time Great Sprint Car Tales. She has been a columnist with Dick Berggrens Speedway Illustrated since the magazines inception in 1999, with an additional 22 years experience writing and providing photography prior to that for Stock Car Racing and Open Wheel magazines, winning several national awards. She has been on the National Sprint Car Hall of Fames Selection Committee since its beginning in 1990. Married to an accomplished late model/sprint car driver since 1973, Joyce has also served on the race team pit crew, garnering considerable inside information and experience.
A quote from a recent column, best as I remember; One of the young ladies hanging out with her son's crew: ""I like that they don't have to act all tough 'n stuff" Well, dear, they don't have to act, because they ARE...."
Or a comment from her hubby Rick's long-time crewman "Moonie": "If them guys are tryin' to get the bugs outa that thing, they better get a case of Real Kill!"
