THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 6 PM EDT MONDAY.
* LOCATIONS... THE GREATER CAPITAL REGION... THE SARATOGA REGION... THE MOHAWK VALLEY INCLUDING ALL OF FULTON COUNTY... SCHOHARIE COUNTY AND EASTERN CATSKILLS... MID HUDSON VALLEY... AND TACONICS OF EASTERN NEW YORK... SOUTHERN VERMONT... WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS... AND NORTHWEST CONNECTICUT.
* HAZARD TYPES... SNOW.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... 3 TO 6 INCHES IN VALLEY AREAS... AND 4 TO 8 INCHES ACROSS HIGHER ELEVATIONS.
* TIMING... SNOW DEVELOPS SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. PERIODS OF SNOW... SOME MODERATE IN INTENSITY... CONTINUES THROUGH MONDAY BEFORE TAPERING OFF IN THE LATE AFTERNOON. SOME RAIN OR SLEET COULD MIX IN DURING MONDAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE MID HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHERN LITCHFIELD COUNTY.
* IMPACTS... SNOW WILL LEAD TO REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY ROADS... WITH THE GREATEST IMPACTS LIKELY FOR THE MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE.
* WINDS... NORTH TO NORTHEAST AT 10 TO 20 MPH.
* TEMPERATURES... STARTING INTO THE 20S TONIGHT... THEN RISING INTO THE LOWER TO MID 30S ON MONDAY... EXCEPT NEAR 40 ACROSS THE MID HUDSON VALLEY.
* VISIBILITIES... OCCASIONALLY BELOW ONE MILE.

(72,300 posts)UPDATE: Power Outages Continue in Hudson Valley, Freeze Warning Issued for Southern Westchester
Ulster County is still numbered over 1,000, and Dutchess County could get up to 8 inches of snow.
UPDATE5:20 p.m., April 3, 2016: Power outages continue Sunday afternoon after the rain, snow and wind that went through the Hudson Valley overnight.
Now southern Westchester County is under a freeze warning from 8 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday.
And Dutchess County is under a winter weather advisory from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, with snow accumulations from 3 to 6 inches in valley areas and 4 to 8 inches in the higher elevations.
As of 5 p.m., Con Edison still had 749 customers off the grid.
Harrison actually increased in number over the course of the day.

(72,300 posts)Last year a late freeze killed my peony flower buds before they could bloom. The crocus and daffodils were looking great two days ago. So many perennials are coming out of winter mode thanks to warm weather last week.

(46,436 posts)We're barely going below freezing here at night and up into high 40s, low 50s in the daytime. There are buds on my Mayday tree and the rhubarb and columbines are up, a couple weeks earlier than usual, so I have them still mulched just in case it gets cold again. I don't think it will, though. We seem well on our way to spring.
