It's like learning to fly all over again. I can honestly identify more than half of the do-hickeys in the picture now.

Questions:
How fast does the crew have to row to get the thing to fly?
Do they have to step on the center console to get to the seats?
Where's the ashtray?

(3,065 posts)Whaddya mean row? Can't you see the pedals? One set for each engine. That's why there are two pilots.

(4,158 posts)Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And I'm gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.

(12,160 posts)Well not quite. I do recognize a few things; the most important the pens and highlighters in the upper left. Then the yoke, the throttles, I think I know which is the altimeter indicator. Are those circuit breakers in the lower right and left? And is the display dead center of each yoke a horizon indicator and maybe glide slope?
I don't see an ejection control or a way to arm and fire the weapons .

(36,827 posts)There's also one behind each seat for four total. The Challenger 601 is pretty old school as it was designed back in the 80's. The electronic ADIs and HSIs are pretty much first generation. There's lots of indicators, buttons, and lights that would all be done with flat panel displays on more modern jets. But there's all sorts of cool stuff that I'm not used to having like radar, radio altimeter, stall protection, and 18,000 lbs of thrust.

Congratulations on the type rating.

(16,390 posts)We don't have to worry about all those fancy doo-dads. It's just a compass, an altimeter, and an airspeed indicator for me! But congrats!
