(19,984 posts)I just get through Christmas, trying not to think of growing up when we had little to nothing. At least my son has had great Christmas times where he didn't want for stuff and didn't know what it was like. Probably what does it to me is that my wonderful mother had passed before I was earning good money,so I was unable to give her the Christmases she deserved.

(23,191 posts)It's been 8 Christmases without her, my Christmas lodestar. I get all my love of decorating and celebrating for Christmas from her. She was the angel of our Christmas shows. I miss her so much, especially at this time of year when we spent a lot of time together decorating, shopping, cooking, listening to Christmas music. I have lots of ornaments that she gave me or that she used on her tree and I love to put them out and think about her and her sisters and mother making them and it warms my heart to think of those better times. It also makes me sad with missing all of them.

(1,996 posts)Feeling grateful for the family I was born into. I could not have asked for better.
I am certain your mother knew you wanted to but couldn't. The best you can do is all any of us can do.
