I think people miss out on. We could build millions of homes for people, but without color and greenspaces all you have is shelter, not a home or a community. If we had a solid education system that got Math, History, Science, and the basics correct we could finally start expanding. Even beyond Art and Music which are needed (and I had both in Elementary school. I also had a Wednesday Bible class which I find difficult to believe now.) but Home Economics (took in Middle School), Trade Classes (I took Welding, Woodwork, Forestry, and Horticulture all offered at my small high school) and learned to appreciate the color and vibrancy around me. It took time to get to a point to really enjoy it in adulthood but I had the foundation thanks to a surprisingly good education in SC of all places.

The assortment of subjects taught in schools when we were kids. And no parent ever complained about books they insisted be removed from the school library. We even had sex education in 9th grade. Everyone attended. We discussed current events in Civics class every Monday. You could even learn drafting from the Vocational dept. (this was the old way, before computers).

Nice photo, Walker!

I seem to remember a weekly or monthly news program for elementary and middle school. It was similar to the 7:00PM nightly news shows and there was a lady that was the anchor, she was well known at the time. Maybe Current Events?

I loved Weekly Reader day!

I don’t remember the news program for kids, though.
