I see spots

My new glass filter arrived today. This is one of a few shots I took this afternoon. I'm ready for the April 8 solar eclipse!


This shot was taken in 2017 using a filter I made from a cardboard tube and the filter from a pair of eclipse glasses. I eventually used the filter to take shots of the 2017 total solar eclipse from a site near the NorthCarolina/Tennessee border.

I'm really happy for you. You will see the eclipse. Alas, when AndyS passed away, so did my opportunity to see it.

The eclipse will be partial here in South Central PA, with the moon covering 91% of the sun. To see any portion of the sun in shadow will be exciting. I might travel to the northwestern corner of the state where the eclipse will be total. Lodging and campgrounds along the path of totality are already booked in many areas, but I could make it a day trip. I'm reluctant to travel that day, though. The traffic was stop and go much of the way during my returning from North Carolina to PA following the total eclipse of 2017. It took about 10 hours to get there and about 15 hours to get home.

The eclipse will be partial here, with 91% of the sun covered by the moon. I think your home is probably in or very near to the path of totality. Are you planning to take some shots?

7. No, I don't have any fancy camera equipment.

Here in NE Ohio we’ll be right in the path, that’s true. I’ll just experience it like most everyone else. 🙂
