Detroit Free Press: Losers vie with Lunatics for GOP Reins

Opinion, by Brian Dickerson, Dec. 18, 2022
- editorial about the competitors for leadership of the Michigan GOP… this is what Dems will be facing in the coming years…
(snip)
Republican precinct delegates will meet in February to pick a successor to outgoing party co-chair Ron Weiser. Weiser, an Ann Arbor real estate investor who raised money for George Bush and John McCain in saner times and currently serves on the University of Michigan Board of Regents, will turn 78 next year, and wants to spend more time on planet Earth after sharing the MIGOP's reins with diehard MAGA warriors like Meshawn Maddock. The delegates who will pick his replacement are the same folks who nominated Matt DePerno and Kristina Karamo to the No. 2 and 3 spots on this year's GOP ticket, which is why of those both election-deniers think they have a fair shot to be the next MI-GOP chair.

Two other unsuccessful office-seekers -- Oakland County businesswoman Lena Epstein, who lost what had historically been a safe Republican congressional seat to U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens in 2018 before finishing third in last month's general election contest for two seats on the U-M Board of Regents, and Michael Farage, a longtime party activist who came in eighth in a field of nine candidates for the Grand Rapids school board -- are also in the hunt. Neither seems to believe their inability to conduct a winning campaign of their own disqualifies them from serving as field commander for their party's next statewide campaign in 2024.
(snip)

… there are a few other “long shot” candidates as well, but the common theme seems to be that they think their message to voters is just fine, they just need more $ to get their message out there.

I mean, repukes are a clown show in general but the Michigan ones seem to be vying for the most attention!
