Women's health program being killed by political fight

Popular for saving lives and tax money, the Medicaid Women's Health Program is nevertheless sliding toward oblivion the victim of a state-federal impasse fueled by the politics of abortion and sustained by finger-pointing and blame-shifting.

Sometime in the next eight days, the federal government is expected to cut funding for the program, saying Texas improperly excluded Planned Parenthood from its list of approved health care providers.

Texas officials disagree, saying Medicaid rules allow states to designate qualified — and unqualified — health care providers.

The standoff has prompted each side to condemn the other for adhering to a rigid political ideology without regard to the cost to women.

Just like it was pointed out in earlier threads - Texas is ground zero for the War on Women. I just wish more of the national media would focus on Texas and expose the causalities right here in Texas.

It might as well be, "Women Being Killed by Political Fight". They might save a buck or so on the ink costs.
