Was $3 worth destroying the state over?

http://jakehasablog.blogspot.com/2015/07/was-3-worth-destroying-state-over.html?m=1

"...As a result of the preceding changes, gross property tax levies are estimated to increase on a statewide basis by 1.9% in 2015(16) and 0.8% in 2016(17), and net tax levies would increase by an estimated 1.1% in 2015(16) and 0.9% in 2016(17). These tax changes would translate into tax bills for a median-valued home estimated at $2,830 in 2015(16) and $2,828 in 2016(17). These represent decreases of $1 (-0.04%) in 2015(16) and $2 (-0.07%) in 2016(17).
THREE WHOLE DOLLARS OVER TWO YEARS???! That won't even buy a gallon of milk.

Hope THAT was worth fucking over public education, local government services, and having our roads become more likely to be filled with potholes. Oh, and because of (right-to) work-for-less, the repeal of some prevailing wage provisions, and higher co-pays for insurance (if you're a public employee), you'll be likely taking home a lot less than the $3 in property tax you MAY save. I'd much rather have my taxes go up and live in a state and community that's growing and caring about its citizens than getting this insulting pittance of a tax break. And if you don't feel the same, you are one pathetic dead-ender.

Had enough, yet? "

Couldn't have said it better myself...

2. Morons see the words "tax cut" and refuse to do the damned math

so yes, Joe Taxpayer got a whopping extra three bucks spread out over two years. What he's not being told is how many thousands of dollars the rich and the corporate are not paying.

Laziness and stupidity, those are the things the Republicans count on most and they're never disappointed by either of them.

(My ex, one of the good guys, did the math when St. Reagan proposed his across the board tax cuts. Our difference was roughly equal to what they got in Wisconsin)

property tax increases. The amounts are always so trivial, and people get so very worked up over them. Can't speak for anyone else, but I can afford and extra few dollars, even an extra few hundred if it comes to that, to keep schools and fire departments going.

5. I believe the entire exercise was a test by the Kochs, and it establishes Walker's cred for the GOP

base. All preparation for running for president. It looks to me like the GOP is not really interested in results so much as they are almost titillated by hurting people. Hell, a lot of the base votes against their own best interests so much that I think they are masochists, and the Kochs play them like a symphony orchestra. The objective is always to cut and slash and deny so the Kochs and their ilk pay less and less in taxes. That's all. The misery is just the dessert. And Walker is bent on doing to the whole country what he has done to Wisconsin.

actually, Planned Parenthood is an absolutely perfect example of using social issues as a wedge to instigate economic gains for the 1%. The ostensible objective is to stop abortions - that appeals to a lot of the GOP. The real reason is to cut funding. Less funding, more money to spend on the MIC and/or less taxes. For a lot of politicians these days, the social issues are just a front for the economics. And people fall for it over and over again.

6. For Walker, it all comes down to Walker

This is about nothing more than Walker getting to say "I CUT TAXES EVERY YEAR IN WISCONSIN, A BLUE STATE, BLAH BLAH BLAH" on the campaign trail. He could give a shit if he leaves the place in flames on his way out the door. He's done with us. Punishing his political enemies is his only other purpose in governing, and there's plenty of that in his budget too.

7. I used to live in a Red voting area

still do , but not as deep. Anyway, they needed a new firehouse. There was one for the area, but two made more sense to reach a fire incident quicker. It was purposed to raise a 2cent tax for 4 years to pay for it. TAX,TAX YOU SAY!! Well, it made them crazy insane. This was at the crux of the tea-party movement and any mention of a tax pushed their overdrive button. Much shouting, much door-to-door knocking, many road signs and even several billboards screaming, "No more Taxes". Sure enough the motion to build was defeated and the council members replaced the next voting cycle.
To this day I wonder how many houses burned , how many lives were lost because of this craziness.

Not all were duped (some were in on the scam), but these idiots with their "I still STAND WITH WALKER" bumper stickers on their cars are a danger to themselves as well as the rest of us.
