Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI am finished sitting back listening to the Bernie people.
I have been pretty silent in the past few months but I cannot do it any longer. The other side, and in this case it is the Bernie supporters, are making it clear that they won't vote for the Democrat in the general if it is not Bernie. Well, fine, give us Trump on a silver platter.
I am going to start answering these people, if they ban me so be it. This is a DEMOCRATIC website, not a BERNIE website. I have always felt they had the right to their opinion, but since they don't value mine I have a right to call foul.
I like Bernie, and if he is the nominee of the Democratic party I will support him fully to stop the Republicans. I am a DEMOCRAT!

However pointless arguing with them is.

(12,265 posts)They bully people until they stop posting and then it looks like they are the majority and I don't think they are.

(46,125 posts)After Skinner's changes. I used to wonder what site I was at when I looked at the greatest page.
Trash GD and the Bernie Group, and DU is quite livable again.

(6,283 posts)... are genuine Bernie Sanders supporters who mirror and recommend the "some" you are talking about. They may have different goals, but the rhetoric is the same.

(130 posts)Relatively new poster but ive been lurking for a while. Seems to be pretty tense all around.
Just my 2 cents
Eta: Im including myself in that group since in hindsight im not overly proud of the snark of my first post.

(6,283 posts)... that before this is over with we're going to see a Bernie supporter on Bernie supporter shitstorm. The hardcore versus the pragmatic and sensible. There will be a lot of new job openings down at the bus factory.
Newkularblue
(130 posts)But isnt "sensible" not only relative but subjective?
Her Sister
(6,444 posts)and on top of that b/c of Trump and Cruz
we think it is sensible and pragmatic to vote for the candidate with a D in the general election.
so much so it should be next to both words definitions in the dictionary!
Newkularblue
(130 posts)Of my post was to ask whether its reasonable to consider anothers point of view as possibly reasonable and sensible to the person being labeled? Ive voted dem since age 18, never registered though. Does that mean im not a dem even though we probably agree on a great many issues?
I happen to think im a pretty reasonable person but if im not, who gets to decide?

(6,444 posts)A serial killer probably has reasons for getting off killing. In his mind and point of view it makes sense. So if you want to be existential then we could see everyone as having reasons that are valid for them.
Here we come to DU b/c we have some goals in mind which most of the time have the consequence of avoiding Republican Candidates and goals.
Newkularblue
(130 posts)Different people with similiar goals can disagree on how to reach said goals.

(6,283 posts)....but coming from a Democrat I cannot for the life of me see any sense in stating, "I will not vote for the Democratic nominee unless it's my choice for Democratic nominee". I also do not see any semblance of " sensible" in someone stating, "please quit bashing Bernie. That's not a good way to get someone to vote for Hillary. And by the way, FUCK HER!!" So yeah, maybe it is subjective and relative but not always in a good or sensible way.

(3,212 posts)Some (but not all) of them act like Republicans so I felt better when I started treating the bad ones like Republicans.
You know like not letting them get away with lies, distortions, and right wing propaganda.

(31,170 posts)Many have said they are Indys who will go back to being one after Bernie steps down.
The long time DU'ers caught up in the worst of it, will either regroup, or leave.
We try and keep things balanced in GDP, but be careful, and don't let the disruptors get to you.

(46,125 posts)Just don't make my mistake of posting in the Bernie group. I would follow threads from the front page and end up getting royally pissed at their idiocy and spout off, only to discover I was in their group.
They banned me, and I'm glad. But still, that's bad form.
As some have noted, they're taking their moronic arguments to other forums now to get around Skinner's attempts to get them to behave themselves. But feel free to go after them there.

(6,444 posts)1. HRC has supporters and voters
2. She continues having supporters and voters
3. HRC wins some States and Delegates b/c of 1 and 2
Most HRC supporters don't mind that BS has his own version of 1, 2 and 3.
We just don't appreciate the anger they show towards us and our candidate.
If it wasn't for that anger we could coexist while backing our own respective candidates.

(14,400 posts)that the vast majority will smarten the hell up, hold their noses and vote for the Democratic nominee. Those that won't are pretty much the equivalent of the dogshit that I scrape off my shoe after a walk.

(41 posts)I have a good number of FB friends who are Bernie supporters, my dad is a Bernie supporter, and my sister is a volunteer for Bernie. From what I've gathered, they are not democrats. they are largely independents or former democrats who feel both parties are equally corrupt, and that a vote for either is a vote for corruption and evil.
This is a part of the republican strategy IMO.
1. Incite the Right.
2. Disenfranchise the left.
Those on the left who were disenfranchised by the ineffective government didn't go out to vote 2 years ago, because "what's the point?" Well today they have jumped on the Bernie train because he is not a democrat. They really do have no intention to vote, and they haven't voted in the past.
My father leans Bernie, but we've discussed this together. He is equally frustrated by his fellow Bernie supporters who've failed to understand that Bernie's message really isn't even about the president. Its about congress. He, at least, will fully back HRC. My sister, probably not. She didn't vote 2 years ago, and she probably won't this time either. She doesn't see any difference between republicans and democrats, and unfortunately I think she is the better representation of the Bernie movement as a whole.
Here in Florida I'm proud that we have closed primaries. All of these people left the party and allowed Rick freaking Scott to be re-elected and now they are pissed because they can't vote through their own actions. As for debating with them, or fighting them. There is no point. They post more anti-hillary memes then my republican friends, and hardly even post anything positive anymore. They are equally happy seeing the democrats get destroyed as they are the republicans. Time will tell if they can manage to get their heads out of their rears in time to make a positive impact. All hope probably lies on Bernie's own actions moving forward.
Her Sister
(6,444 posts)So agree! Same way I learned a while ago that debating with Republicans was just not worth it! I have one precious life to live!

(27,821 posts)... DemocraticUnderground ceased to be a Democratic website years ago.
It is now just another political message board, where people are free to post anti-Dem rhetoric without interference.
According to the Admins, the jury system now sets "community standards", and if that "community" consists of non-Democrats - or, more to the point, anti-Democrats - it is THEY who run the board.
When I signed-up here over a decade ago, I never thought the time would arrive when I'd say, "Hey, I'm SO OLD, I remember when DU was actually a site that promoted Democrats".
What has become of this place is beyond sad.
Walk away
(9,494 posts)They will never vote for Hillary. There is going to be a whole lot of unity in the real world but here at DU the chances are nil (sorry admin). You can't take it seriously because this place doesn't reflect what is actually happening. Nobody cares what they think and they don't have any power.
