As someone in love with 3rd-generation bike-sharing systems before the large majority of Americans knew anything about them, Ive been eagerly anticipating and covering NYCs huge bike-sharing plans for years. A Quinnipiac University poll last October found that 72% of New Yorkers support the program, Transportation Alternatives notes.

The system will have 10,000 bikes at 600 stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
