(206,420 posts)I once pulled into the garage to find a tiny tree frog, with his little sticky feet, attached to my car like a hood ornament. I had to find an appropriate place to let the little guy go, since I was pretty sure it needed to be near water...

Recently I had several close encounters with a hummingbird buzzing past me as I approached my mom's front door. Turns out the bird was an expectant mother guarding a tiny nest she had built in a bush in the entryway. Sure enough, a week or so ago two tiny identical beaks peeked out from the nest. This evening the little ones are already fitting a bit snug, looking like they'll soon be ready to fly the coop. I'll miss them. Nature is truly amazing.
You're not alone. There's a reason when people vacation, that often means getting away from cities and people. Unfortunately, people are adding 1 billion, net, to our total population every 12 - 13 years and consuming more and more resources in the process. I don't see how the natural world doesn't get taken down with our stupidity; the 6th global mass extinction is underway right now.
