It is an eventful night for us.
First, our long-time friends invited us to a small dinner party. They are the international musician friends I mention now and then. She is an accomplished cook and at one time even owned her own takeout health food store (macrobiotics). Plays French horn; he's a jazz musician and composer. She is cooking Italian food, which will be her own tomato sauce with various items like meatballs, veal, and sausages.
She also mentioned cheese and prosciutto for appetizers. We are taking lobster cannelloni to add to the appetizer plate. We drove to the Portuguese restaurant in Newark this morning to purchase them.
Plus we also bought desserts for everyone from this restaurant. They are the best flan topped with coconut sauce. Here's a pic:

Then later, our friend is returning from Saudi Arabia, so maybe a late-night digestivo with him. He sent me some pics in the middle of the night and I was amazed at how beautiful SA is! Here are two pics, but they are not representative of what he sent me. I chose them because I liked the composition and perspective shown in them.

(36,281 posts)The braised chicken with chestnuts I made last night was good, so I think I'll Tupperware dive in there.

(25,927 posts)fried potatoes w/ onion, gravy, corn.
I pan fried the pork chop, then placed in oven to continue cooking. Made the gravy from the pan drippings, using chicken broth. Right now my small home smells wonderful.
Because it's a large, thick cut pork chop, this will be my dinner tomorrow also, lucky me.

(10,181 posts)It's in the warmest spot of the kitchen, but the yeast are somewhat sluggish today. Maybe if we kept the temperature in the house above 66...
Anyway, the plans are for pizza with green peppers and artichoke hearts for topping.

(22,767 posts)when I used to bake a lot of bread, I'd use the below method from Southern Living to get the dough to rise. Works like a charm!
