Dogs At The Shelter Versus Now

TikTok Challenge Has People Sharing Pics Of How Their Dogs Looked At The Shelter Versus How They Look Now (40 Pics)

A new challenge has just emerged on TikTok and let's hope it continues for as long as the platform is online.
It started when user Alexa posted a video, saying "Show me what your dog looked like in their shelter picture versus now."

Poor dogs in the before photos at the link broke my heart literally. Others brought tears to my eyes, how can anyone let those kind of things happen to ANY creature much less a dog? At least these poor things were rescued/adopted.

If you go to the link, have a tissue handy. Seriously.

And they are the sweetest, most loving animals I have ever known.

But what's with that pit bull? Her nails are so long. We have the same problem with my little Chihuahua/Pit mix. Her nails are long as well, and she HATES getting them trimmed. But other than that, she's a sweetheart.

with a wonderful border collie. She lay curled up in the corner of her cage, miserable. We brought her home. She flourished. Later we saw a shelter worker on a walking trail when we were with our love; she cried seeing her, she hugged us, it was a wonderful reunion. Dogs are simply the best. And they need our love.

I happen to be a cat person, but that's still true. Dogs in particular are so much happier after they get a new home, because they are so totally tuned into us.

Some years ago I did volunteer work at a shelter in another city. I worked weekends as a volunteer receptionist, and the dog walkers always had to walk by my desk to get the dogs in and out. I was flabbergasted to see that every single dog wanted to greet every single person they crossed paths with. Made me really appreciate what dogs are really like, and how much they adore humans.
