2 days of Cat vs. Automatic Feeder

2. And I thought MY cat was food-motivated!

I did get an automatic feeder for when I go on vacations, and he tried for a while to get it to give him food, but them took to sitting and waiting for it to move. And if he wasn't sitting right beside it, he would hear the whirr and run from anywhere in the house. The one I got was different from this one, it was on a rotating lazy-susan style. To me, this one looked like it could be destroyed---but I guess not.

3. I have a simple one, and my kittehs hit it with their paw to make the food come down

4. Oh god, I could never have one of those!

My cat would weigh 50 pounds! Sammy will not stop eating until all his food is gone....more like a dog than a cat. The vet even has a name for it----"dog eater". There can never be food at will in this house!

When we had 'our' beagle till last fall (my sweetie and I had joint custody, I couldn't 'have ' a dog in my apartment and she was only suppossed to have one) we fed him twice a day. Now since he resides at my beautiful daughter's house (she ALWAYS wanted a beagle like our Murray) and the landlord caught up to her having two goggies, he grazes. What a difference. She puts food out twice a day, and he eats when he is hungry.

Sammy apparently will never be a grazer. No nibbling for him. I got him when he was almost 2 years old, and I have no idea what his life was like before this....except that I was told he was adopted as a kitten from this rescue group, was with those people for over a year until they had to move into an apartment, was adopted by another family who returned him within a month or so. He is also fed twice a day, and vacuums it down. If I were home during the day all the time, I might try to change this behavior by giving him very small amounts throughout the day. But that is not to be.

I am just grateful that he eats well and is healthy!
