Maine allows gun owners to carry concealed weapons without permit
AUGUSTA, MAINE | BY DAVID SHERWOOD
Maine will allow gun owners to carry concealed weapons without a permit, a practice called "constitutional carry" by Second Amendment advocates, under a bill signed into law on Wednesday by Republican Governor Paul LePage.
The measure will make Maine the fifth state to pass a law legalizing the carrying of a handgun, either openly or concealed, without the requirement of a government permit.
Maine joins Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming and Kansas in voting to allow the practice, according to National Rifle Association spokesman Lars Dalseide. Vermont has never required a permit. Arkansas and Montana also allow more limited forms of constitutional carry.
More than a dozen other states have considered similar legislation.
The Maine law will take effect 90 days after the states legislature adjourns, which is expected in mid-July.

I'm sure the streets of Bar Harbor will be extra slippery now from all the blood.

(6,185 posts)2. And you can point to the outbreak of violence in all those other states, I'm sure?
Or are you clueless and just proud of it?
We heard that same song for every state that passed a concealed carry law and every time people like you raved about blood in the streets and shootings over parking spaces.
Then after a few years went by, and nothing they predicted happened, they just shut up.
Here's a chance for you to get ahead of the crowd.

Here in Arizona, we haven't had a problem with Constitutional Carry, it's not the law abiding citizens that are the problem, it's the CRIMINALS that's the problem.

Frankly, I would prefer a skills test and a test on the relevant laws, but this is a state matter.
