"Since Columbine more than 360,000 students have experience gun violence at school".

We will forever hold Columbine in our hearts. Today, and every day, we commit to action to honor those lost. Progress is slow but steady, and we must continue to honor with action. A future free
of gun violence is within reach.

that was attacked. Even kids and university students who didn't see the shooter are traumatized to one degree or another. They get told to run for their lives or shelter somewhere. Have you ever run from a gun? I did in 2004 or 2005. Terrifying and I was already on meds for ptsd and the gun wasn't aimed at me.

But that said I’m sorry for your experience. Not trying to downplay the impact that violence has, but the numbers seem very random.

and there were guys in masks and stockings over their heads at the end of a the hall with a long gun. They were aiming to get into the office and steal the rent money. I ran. I ran down a flight of stairs and they were running away outside the window so I knew I was safe after 10 seconds in. Still I was really scared until the police arrived. Went down to the basement to retrieve my shoes (I ran out of my shoes actually). If it had been a few minutes to hours of lockdown as many of these students go through when their schools are targeted in mass shootings..... well that fear would leave more than a mark. I don't want to imagine more than that.
