They were pretty much a lock for hosting since Arizona State was banned from post-season play this season.

I guess I'll root for Oregon State out of all the teams listed but for the first round I'll be Missouri's biggest fan.

In Creighton's case they swept the conference tournament while defeating regular season champ Indiana State twice.

Kentucky, the 4th team in the SEC, got plain old NCAA fucked.
"UK is among eight teams from the Southeastern Conference in the 64-team NCAA field. Three SEC teams are among the top eight national seeds: No. 1 Florida, No. 7 LSU and No. 8 South Carolina, the two-time defending national champion. UK went 6-3 against those teams, winning 20 SEC games total."
The team is madder than hell. I believe it will motivate them.

I can't remember them all without looking up but one of them is to draw on average 80% or more per game and other factors to guarantee revenue to the NCAA. It doesn't have a lot to team with team success though it helps.

The NCAA is full of shit.
Had winning record over Tournament winner and was ranked #1 in several polls at different times.
They are not explaining it to our local press either.
Terrible seeding, ruins our best season ever.

but it was an article on the Arizona Wildcats and their case to host a regional probably about a month or longer ago on AZCentral.com. It listed several factors and went check-check-check to the listed requirements.

The issues are more about the revenue the site can generate for the NCAA and the one clear thing that I could remember was 80%+ average attendance for the host team.

I know Arizona State has hosted a regional pretty much every year they were good enough to get into the tournament. The reason is ASU draws well and Packard Stadium is a success for the NCAA during the regionals.

I don't know if Kentucky draws a crowd or if they had a revenue generating case or not. I was just pointing out team success isn't the only requirement.

10. Jonathon Crawford throws no-hitter

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida pitcher Jonathon Crawford threw a no-hitter to lead the top-seeded Gators past Bethune-Cookman 4-0 in an opening-round game of the Gainesville Regional on Friday night.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound sophomore right-hander finished one walk shy of a perfect game. He struck out five and threw only 99 pitches.

The Gators also threw the previous no-hitter in the NCAA tournament. Florida's John Burke threw one against Furman in a first-round game in the NCAA East Regional in Gainesville on May 23, 1991. That was the most recent individual no-hitter in school history and the fifth ever.

Friday's no-hitter was the most innings Crawford has pitched in a game in his career. His previous high was six against LSU earlier this season.

Arizona Wildcats coach Andy Lopez was so caught up Saturday’s 16-4 win over Louisville
that he didn’t notice the Cardinals’ famous fan.

Muhammad Ali watched Saturday’s game from behind the Louisville dugout with his wife and
one other friend. The former heavyweight champ arrived before first pitch and left in the eighth inning
— long after the top-seeded UA had imposed its will over its third-seeded opponent.

“Really? Wow,” Lopez said postgame. “I wish I would have known that.”
