Example, Rose Bowl Stadium.
When you enter the seating bowl, the field is about 30 rows down.

The playing field is buried about one hundred feet into the ground. They had to sink the field into a bowl because the FAA has strict height requirements for structors parked in LAX's flight path that would ghost the approach radars.
