I actually don't know how I feel about this.
In many ways, I have felt that Clinton's stances particularly at the beginning of the debate when she is responding after Sanders, would be the position Sanders' espouses and then adding a bit more to show that she can be tough.
Sadly, this merely adds to that view. I mean, in an optimistic sense, I do consider this as her shifting towards more progressive ideals, which I can only consider a positive. Unfortunately, many can point to this and show a sense of being disingenuous.
I understand that issues and legislation are complex, and one must deal to get some of what one wants. However, she really can not afford these types of missteps, where the position is different within the hour.
I want each candidate to be as strong as possible so that come the General Election, they could stand the barrage of lies and attacks on their records. I understand that some candidates can pull off shifting stances easily, she can't, unless it easily makes sense. Unlike Republicans, Democrats check on validity of an argument, sources, and cross confirm. One can not be just reactive, and have a position change on the fly.
I love John Kerry, but Republicans painted him as a flip-flopper. There are valid reasons as to why he voted the way he has, especially in controversial legislation. I can only imagine how crazy the attacks will be...
Please, please try not giving them more ammunition, they make up so much as is.
I get mentally exhausted just thinking about how I am going to defend either of them. I don't want to have a campaign where half the time one would have to deal with damage control...
