2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWant to know how Bernie Sanders won Michigan?
He and his campaign connected with voters. It's really that simple.
And not just through his rallies, which are clearly YUGE, but with his ground game, which is frankly beating the pant suit off of Hillary's.
We all need to be a part of that if his campaign is going to succeed.
Tonight I was called by a lovely campaign volunteer while the early MI returns were coming in about phonebanking. So I know they really need help with that.
It's really a great way to contribute to our democracy, and you can't ask for a better candidate to support! Easy to sign up!

(35,015 posts)I can PM you the info tomorrow if you're interested in helping with that. All the volunteer organizers are amazing, and they work their asses off. The revolution will not be televised, but I'm watching it happen with this campaign.

(28,876 posts)It's just so hard to find time with two kids 5 and under. At least time before 9PM. So different from 2008. I'm hoping they keep the campaign office going here too. Would be fun to continue volunteering from there.
Truly my passion is voter registration though, so I can't wait for Sanders to wrap this nomination up so I can get back to that.

(10,786 posts)Sanders can make up all those delegates with one big blowout in CA alone.
She only plays in the Deep Red South.
Even with the full force of corporate media, the Democratic party, the Democratic establishment, the Democratic machine, voting machines, and all of power of the top 0.1%, the best she can do outside of the Deep Red South is to eke out a tie!
Barack_America
(28,876 posts)I don't get this.
He may not make it to California without wins in states like Ohio.

(28,876 posts)Michigan didn't just happen, there were thousands of volunteers going door-to-door for him. I was one of them.

(154,021 posts)the June primary will be more than just me voting on minimum wage? We in CA are at times sanguine about this.

(13,685 posts)This is the time for CA to show us what yall are made of. I'm in the south and we sure showed what we are made of!

(885 posts)My wife and I decided to vote for Bernie. Funny thing though, we had at least 6-10 friends and strangers reach out to us via Facebook asking us to consider voting for Bernie in the Michigan primary. We didn't receive a single call, message, e-mail or facebook item regarding Clinton.
We both are known Dems. We both have liked various Dems on facebook and our votes in the past have been posted. So, what gives?
Barack_America
(28,876 posts)I did not give the campaign my landline. This was from my being registered as a Dem. I received zero contact from the Clinton campaign.
Not to mention the 3 email reminders I got from Sanders to vote.

(2,510 posts)One of them was a negative-Bernie piece on some cherry-picked GUN votes...
I STILL haven't seen a single Hillary bumpersticker, even today at the polls...

(28,876 posts)I honestly wonder if the NRA's tweet in favor of Sanders' immunity position actually made the difference here. But if she was so foolish to send anti-gun mailers around...
John Poet
(2,510 posts)I'm still trying to figure out what list they were using... I don't get much unsolicited mail, and my last primary votes were cast in the Republican primary to screw around with frontrunners (we didn't have a Democratic primary that counted the last two times).

(28,876 posts)My God, for all of the complaints that "Bernie doesn't connect with Blacks", there is truly something to be said regarding Hillary's campaign and Midwestern white voters.
