2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe thing is, if Bernie had the nomination locked up, he would reach out to HRC supporters
He would make clear that he supports the good parts of HRC's program(a Sanders Administration could be counted on to be just as feminist as a HRC Administration, if not more so-and, of course, he has always been equally committed to "social justice", so there would be no discomfort for HRC supporters with Bernie on that.
He would call on those of us who support him to be conciliatory to HRC supporters, and we would be(as most of us always have been in real life, as opposed to internet-life).
But it's hard to believe that, if HRC does lock up the nom, she will truly reach out to the Sanders supporters on the economic justice and anti-corporate domination agenda(an agenda supported, however the nomination comes out and however people may label themselves ideologically, by the vast majority of the Democratic party and the vast majority of the American people).
And it's hard to believe that she will support changing our foreign policy to avoid ever again doing the kind of things people like Kissinger did, even though, again, the vast majority of the people want us to never do things like to the world again.
If she does get close to the nom, HRC will need to acknowledge that her support for a hawkish foreign policy and a corporate-approved economic policy are not vote winners, and that she will need the votes of people who seek clear alternatives to the status quo.
Unity, when the time for unity comes, will require dialogue and humility and a willingness to listen. "You have to, you have to, you have to" is not an approach that is appropriate anymore.
The whole way the winners of the Democratic primaries treat the supporters of other candidates and the ideas that animate their campaigns will need to change, and it will need to change beginning this year.

(47,209 posts)I don't know how people have missed that. The GOP wheels are off the bus, we're making sure ours are staying on for the long haul.

There was never any justification for either of those things from your side.

(47,209 posts)And people rightly called him on not dressing racism in his campaign. Those people were immediately lied about by people there claiming they called him a racist. Stupid and nasty move.
