Related: About this forumTrump has more votes than Hillary in the swing states
Hillary backers always point to the fact that she has more votes than Trump. But she got those votes from blue states.
Hillary got more votes than Trump in blue states.
Trump got more votes than Hillary in swing states.
Hillary ran up the popular vote count over Bernie in the red states, but Trump will win those red states.
The vast majority of Hillary votes came from the red states. Does anyone think Hillary will win the red states against Trump?
Forget the popular vote for Hillary, It looks like Trump will win the electoral college very easily.

(388 posts)i do wonder about a GE matchup between Hill and Trump.
She won't win that match going by what we have seen so far.

(388 posts)it doesn't matter that she has more votes than trump.
Most of those votes came from either blue states, or because Trump was running against many candidates in the early red states.
The red states where Hillary ran up her vote count is a useless stat for the GE.

(388 posts)i never said i would vote for Trump, and that isn't my point.
I am just talking about the facts. Does it matter how many votes Hillary won in the south, when we know Trump will sweep the south in the GE.
Why do you wish to ignore the facts?

(388 posts)You are neglecting to take into account how many more votes would trump get if he wasn't running in such a competitive field.
You don't really think Hill will take texas do you? Trump would have had more votes if Cruz wasn't in the race. Same goes for Florida and Michigan with Kasic etc.

to vote for Kasich and Trump (who outperformed in these states).
It's just a sample but we could lose a lot of independent votes across the nation if Hillary is our nominee.

(12,001 posts)If they were closed, those primaries give no indication of how the independents might swing the state's vote, and so don't give much of a clue as to who is likely to win the state.
However, if both the Dem and Republican primaries were open in those states, and Trump did better than Clinton, that wouldn't bode well.
