(332 posts)free of trickery and thug acts, then no. If they allow thiefs and thugs to control the state process then yes. The difference though between 2000 and today is that us Dems have started to grow a backbone and will not allow the thugs to run the show this time.

Wouldn't it be great if this was the Year of The Rove... Some innovative potter could design a cookie jar with his hand under the lid.
I hope to live long enough to see him behind bars.

(20 posts)Do you really think Romney has a chance in hell of winning Ohio?

(9,774 posts)confident about tomorrow. Yes, I rather be Obama tomorrow but it's by no means a clam dunk win. The polls are very close no matter which way you look at it. Let's get out the vote!!!

(24,460 posts)He's either going to have a REALLY good night tomorrow night- which is not currently indicated by the polling/early voting results- or there would have to be a pretty sophisticated vote manipulation operation in place though the probability of them being able to successfully pull it off seems fairly low. The polls are tight in some of the swing states but President Obama doesn't need all of them to win and in most of them he's ahead by a small but IMHO comfortable enough margin of victory that would probably be able to overcome any vote manipulation. Electoral reform IMHO needs to be put at the top of issues that need to be addressed during the next four years. We all need to be able to trust our electoral system and right now there is not a lot of trust, integrity, let alone consistency in our electoral system. I really think that we need some kind of federal guidelines for national elections and/or mechanisms at the state level to prevent all of the shenanigans we've seen during the past few elections.
