Best thing is that we don't even have to get angry at Tea Party racism anymore

Tea Party racism used to infuriate me because I genuinely feared that such sentiments could defeat the president and the Democratic agenda.

But with the 2012 election behind us, it's pretty clear that even at its zenith, racism and xenophobia cannot win elections in the U.S.

Not even close.

So now, we can all rest assured in the fact that while Tea Party racism may be irritating, dispiriting, or hilarious, it doesn't need to be feared. It will only destroy the GOP further, and in the short-term, that's good for us.

So let the crybaby racists yell the N-word or "monkey" or "spear-chucker" all they want. Let them lament the browning of America.

We can just go ahead with our business and relegate them to the dustbin of history.

racism is painful to those of us who have to see it and hear it and experience it. Still it is an assault to the spirit of our country and to all of humanity.
