[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Let them ALL expire. Then we can be done hearing about "the Bush tax cuts."

The President can then introduce "The OBAMA Tax Cuts" for the poor and middle class, and the reTHUGs will fight them at their peril. They will, of course, be retroactive to when the Bush tax cuts expired.

K&R

I would rather pay the extra taxes than allow them to touch all those People programs.
Let's all hold hands and go over the imaginary cliff.

Go ahead. Let my tax cuts expire.

I won't say that I LIKE paying taxes every quarter, but I understand WHY I pay taxes and I appreciate that I can pay for the benefits of living in a country where I have roads and safety and courts and libraries and safe water and parks and schools. I'd like MORE and BETTER of that, please.

And if I have to pay more, I will. Just as long as the people who have benefited so much more than I have get to pay in proportion to the the benefits they have received from living in a society that has allowed them to accrue such wealth.

That's all I ask.

I'm with you.

determinedly,
Bright

All the safety net and infrastructure programs have to be paid for somehow. And the rich aren't in a rush to spend their money, so why not use it towards the greater good? Besides, paying about 39% in taxes is nothing compared to the FDR and Eisenhower top tax rates. I don't know if we'll ever see top tax rates return to those levels again.

On capital gains (at least to the same rate as income taxes) will add a degree of fairness to the system.

For the 10.3 million + people who live in families known as the "working poor", know that it means further into poverty with no relief. Though I don't think that's the only choice, just the easier one for everyone but them.

Alternatively we could quit subsidizing greedy bastards with cash, let the dollar fall and imports get more expensive, make our own stuff and pay better. There would be hardship, and greedy bastards would scream as their money funnels shut off, but I bet it would be a darn site harder on people who don't already live with deprivation every day.

That would be a switch, huh?
