Scott Walker are leading their parties races for the 2016 presidential nomination.
Former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton leads her closest competitor, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, by more than 3-to-1 advantage in a KBUR-AM and Monmouth College Midwest Matters poll of 1,000 likely Democratic caucusgoers.
Clinton has the support of 63 percent of Democrats in Iowa compared with 20 percent for Sanders. Former Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley is at 5 percent, former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb is at 3 percent and former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chaffee at 1 percent. Eight percent were undecided.
-snip-
Clinton leads Sanders among women by 69 to 14 percent while her lead among men is at 52 to 31 percent.
Clinton leads in all regions of the state and does best in southwest and south central Iowa. Sanders comes closest in northwest Iowa where Clintons lead is 44 to 25 percent. Sanders does slightly better in central and eastern Iowa but Clinton still enjoys a wide lead.

(26,060 posts)Since we're apparently among the vast majority of Democrats in the country, why shouldn't we be posting on a Democratic board?
NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)Why in the world do you think supporters of one of the most popular people in the world shouldn't post? That is extremely arrogant, authoritarian, and extremely outside of what this board is meant for. Hillary support is not welcome at Free Republic. This is the proper place to support democrats.

(36,926 posts)They just reinforce my confidence in Hillary's chances.
And if you are so confident in Bernie, why do you continue to post about him?

(7,865 posts)I want to convince people why Bernie is the best candidate, not merely say "he's ahead, he's ahead, he's ahead."
It really is as simple as that.

(146,350 posts)This forum is for discussion of the Democratic primaries. As with all elections, polls are taken to attempt to discern what's going on. I'm a Sanders supporter, but I would never suggest that DUers not post poll results that seem to reflect the popularity of another candidate.
There is a Bernie Sanders group on DU, where only positive posts about the candidate are allowed. There are similar groups for Clinton and O'Malley. This is not such a group. It is a General Discussion forum for the Democratic Primary. Suggesting that anyone not post here is not really appropriate, in my opinion.

(7,865 posts)Like I have said, I prefer to put up something about policy rather than polling. Running around posting polling continually seems like a waste of time. People come here to discuss issues and candidate positions (I think) so merely putting up polling data seems sort of pointless. Most of us already follow the polls right now anyhow.
MineralMan
(146,350 posts)Others may choose to post things you consider useless. Polling is interesting, so people "run around posting" poll results and their opinions of what they might mean. You "run around" posting policy statements and your opinion of what you think they might mean. Everyone posts as he or she sees fit, it seems to me.
What you think is a "waste of time" is probably something others think is very worthwhile. DU has room for both. One of the very best things about DU is that we can select what we want to read and disregard the rest, I think. We can also choose what to talk about in various threads. That's also important.
People come here for individual reasons. That someone's reasons are different from your is really irrelevant. I think everyone should continue to post about what they think is relevant.

(7,865 posts)Amazingly this place is also a forum where I can point out the absolute, assinine, absurdity of posting ridiculous polling that has not kept up with the methods of communication people are using. Most pollsters are beside themselves with trying to figure out how to securely get a hold of an accurate accounting of voters.
We are rapidly moving to a point where random internet polls aren't that much worse than polling by prestidgious pollsters.
Cellphones, instant messaging, and social media are terra incognita to pollsters attempts to 'weight' data on polls that still seek to make primary use of land-lines in order to collect information.
Savvy?
MineralMan
(146,350 posts)So can everyone else. My point is that simply telling people that what they're posting shouldn't be posted is a waste of time.
As for polling, you think it's useless, apparently. You should let candidates know that. They're still following polling closely, and basing much of their campaigns on what polls are telling them.
As we've seen in recent elections, polls can often accurately predict results. Some do that better than others. Polling techniques improve every year, and your old "landline" complaint is increasingly irrelevant.
What I'm saying is that you should consider posting what you think is important and leave others to post what they think is important. That way, you won't waste your time telling people not to post stuff. That truly is a waste of time.

(26,060 posts)lot more if that age group got off their asses and voted once in a while. This isn't like tv ratings who look at age groups to determine where their money goes. We ALL get to vote - even 54 year old women like myself.

Republicans get Republicans and Independents.
Bernie, on the other hand, gets people from ALL spectrums. Left, right, center, fringe, crazy, sane, black, white, brown, purple, green and unicorns. They all bleieve in Bernie because he has been consistent and knows exactly what's wrong with America. He has the cure - find the balance between the 99% and the 1% without sacrificing the 99%. It's time the 1% pay their share.
